    Group Description

Have you ever heard of Missiology from the Eastern Orthodox perspective? It’s a fascinating field that deals with evangelization in accordance with the Orthodox Christian faith. Essentially, it’s all about sending out messengers or ambassadors to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who have yet to hear it or to those who have fallen away from the faith.

What’s particularly interesting about Orthodox missiology is that it’s based on the idea that the Church is called to continue the mission of Christ in the world. This means that preaching the Good News and helping people develop a relationship with God is an ongoing mission that’s an essential part of the life and witness of the Church. It’s a genuinely inspiring field of study and practice that’s all about making a positive difference in the world.

The Eastern Orthodox approach to evangelization goes beyond just preaching the Gospel. It’s about transforming individuals and society through a combination of social action, personal witness, and spiritual formation. They see the Gospel message as not just for individuals but for the betterment of the world. Additionally, Orthodox missiology stresses the importance of adapting the Gospel message to different cultural contexts while still staying true to Christ’s teachings. It’s all about embracing and respecting local cultures while seeking to harmonize them with the Gospel.

Looking through the Eastern Orthodox lens, missiology is seen as a vibrant and vital component of the Church’s existence. The fundamental belief is that the Gospel message has the power to change lives and bring about renewal, and it is the Church’s duty to spread this life-giving message beyond its walls to the world at large.
