In Eastern Orthodox Christianity, anthropology is the theological study of the nature and purpose of humanity as created by God. According to Orthodox theology, humans are created in the image and likeness of God, and their purpose is to participate in the divine life through communion with God and others.

Orthodox anthropology emphasizes the unity of the human person, who is understood as a composite of body and soul. The body is seen as an essential and integral aspect of the human person, created by God and capable of expressing and manifesting spiritual realities. The Orthodox Church emphasizes the importance of love, forgiveness, and reconciliation in human relationships, reflecting the perfect love and communion of the Holy Trinity.
